Vinit Vyas and Sanchit Gupta deserve kudos for writing some brilliant dialogues. They are the goons from the other mohalla, but thankfully they are not loud and jarring. Veteran actors Gulshan Grover and Ranjeet have a cameo in the film. Jariwala is hilarious every time he appears on the screen. The one where he ends up laughing way too hard after Rao’s attempt to the proposal is ignored by Haasan, and the one where Herry and Rao are drunk, where the latter does a brilliant imitation of Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic characters and blames them for always winning the girl. In fact, two of the film’s most hilarious scenes are impactful because of him. Herry Tangri, who impressed us as Yuvraj Singh in the biopic MS Dhoni The Untold Story also manages to shine in the film. Gattu, has been played very honestly by Rao, It’s definitely refreshing to him in a romcom, since he is generally seen in serious films. Rajkummar has delivered yet another earnest performance. As their love story begins, Gattu’s father (played by Darshan Jariwala) spots Binny with his friend Bhure (Herry Tangri) and what follows is a series of confusing events. But their family assumes that Gattu is nothing but her rakhi-brother, and this very fact is the crux of the film. A typical lover, who wins her over by performing some tasks she asks him to do. The only thing he is sure about is that he loves Binny (Shruti Haasan), who lives right next door. He is an average boy, who is weak in academics and is constantly criticised by his parents as he has no clue about what he wants to do with his life. And Gattu (Rajkummar Rao) is no different.
They fear the festival of Raksha Bandhan, play gully cricket and take pocket money from their folks. Set in Lucknow, Behen Hogi Teri shows us the world where grown-up men behave like teenagers.
